What is MAT?

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a "whole-patient" approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.

MAT is primarily used for the treatment of addiction to opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers that contain opiates.

What is Buprenorphine?

Buprenorphine, or more commonly known as Subutex, is used to treat dependence/addiction to opioids. Suboxone is a medication comprised of buprenorphine and naloxone and helps to suppress the withdrawal symptoms and decrease cravings in individuals with an addiction to heroin or narcotic pain medication.

What is Methadone?

Methadone is a medication used to treat Opioid Use Disorder in individuals with an addiction to heroin or narcotic pain medication. Methadone is taken daily and helps people sustain long term success and lead meaningful lives.

What is Vivitrol?

VIVITROL is a prescription injectable medicine used to, prevent relapse to opioid dependence, after opioid detoxification. You must stop taking opioids before you start receiving VIVITROL. To be effective, VIVITROL must be used with other alcohol or drug recovery programs such as counseling. VIVITROL is an injectable extended release medication to stop urges to use and the effects of ingesting opiates.
